Our Work

Abhaya
Through Abhaya, we spread awareness about sexual and gender-based violence and sexual well-being. We have spoken to more than 1800 children and caregivers about safe and unsafe touch; boundaries and consent and how to report child sexual violence. We have reached more than 40 schools, colleges, orphanages and residential apartments in India.

Our Guide on Child Sexual Abuse
MAYA has developed an easy-access guide to understand child sexual abuse. It explains what it is, how to identify it and debunks common myths and stereotypes around child sexual abuse in India. In frame: our guides which were donated to a government school's library in Bangalore.

Sukoon
Sukoon, the flagship initiative of MAYA, provides free one-on-one therapy sessions for underprivileged students across India. We also equip them with resources which helps manage their mental and emotional well-being. We are now concentrating our efforts to help survivors of any form of sexual violence. If you are a survivor from a marginalised community and are looking for free therapy, please fill the form below, and we will get back to you soon!

Awareness Sessions through Webinars
In December 2023, on World Human Rights Day, MAYA conducted a webinar on online child safety. The speakers shed light on the importance and different facets of online child safety, webcam child sex tourism and how we can make a difference. Our founder, Ms. Anjana, has also been invited by BHU's Debate Society to speak with students on the impact of awareness in ending sexual violence.

The Fall Fundraiser
In the month of October, 2021, MAYA was able to raise INR 51,000. With the funds raised, the orphanages were able to procure essential items such as sanitary and hygiene products and stationary, which are often overlooked but necessary for the health, hygiene, and education of children. The support provided by MAYA has helped to alleviate some of the financial burden that orphanages face in providing these necessities for the children under their care. In total, over 70 children across three orphanages have benefitted from MAYA’s initiative. This support has undoubtedly made a significant difference in their lives, and they now have access to basic necessities that they may not have had before. The funds raised by MAYA are still being used to help government school children.

Project Dana - Our Donation Drive
The team of MAYA demonstrated their commitment to community service by celebrating the 2021 Dasara with underprivileged children. The team spent over a month collecting, packing, and distributing more than 300 notebooks, INR 10000 worth of stationary, storybooks, games, toys, and puzzles to three orphanages. The sight of children's faces lighting up with joy at the sight of new supplies was truly fulfilling and inspiring. The celebration of Dasara with underprivileged children is a testament to the team's commitment to service and their dedication to creating positive change in the communities they serve. Through their efforts, the team of MAYA has demonstrated the power of community service to bring joy, hope, and inspiration to those who need it most.

Diwali with MAYA
Team MAYA celebrated Diwali with underprivileged children in three orphanages. By lighting up their faces with joy, the team spread happiness and positivity, making the festival a memorable experience for the children. In addition to spreading joy, Team MAYA also used this opportunity to raise awareness about important topics. Across slums and orphanages in Bangalore, MAYA donated books, stationery and linen to more than 50 children. Along with, the team spoke to the students about their rights against abuse, exploitation and labour.
