About Us

Building Safer, Informed Communities

Mission

MAYA works to prevent sexual violence, and support survivors through education, community engagement, survivor-centred resources, and systemic advocacy. We aim to build informed, compassionate communities, equip trusted adults and institutions to respond responsibly, and challenge social and legal structures that enable sexual harm.

Vision

A world where every child, adolescent, and adult lives with bodily autonomy, safety, and dignity; free from sexual violence, silence, and shame.

Problem Statement

Sexual violence remains widespread and deeply underreported, compounded by stigma, misinformation, and weak institutional responses. Survivors are often met with silence or blame, while communities lack the tools to prevent harm or respond with care and accountability.

Why This Work Matters

National Context and Evidence

Approach

We take a survivor-centred, prevention-first approach grounded in education and accountability; working across communities, institutions, and policy spaces. Our work combines evidence-based resources with lived realities to create change that is practical, inclusive, and sustainable.

Testimonials

“I had a wonderful experience working with MAYA. I was given a lot of space to explore and find my space as a SGBV Advocacy consultant, and that resulted in a huge positive impact within army cantonments in the Jammu and Kashmir region. I hope to continue working in this field and supporting MAYA's brilliant work, and reaching many more children.”
Wamika Sachdev, SGBV Consultant
“[Translated from Kannada] I was very interested in the session and found it useful. I am now more aware of the fact that CSA occurs in both male children and female children, clearing a vital misconception. It was very informative and if I have any queries, I will reach out!”
